Mirimiri Bodywork

Mirimiri bodywork is Maori/indigenous, holistic and intuitive healing that works on the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental aspects of the individual.  My mirimiri practice is guided by my matakite abilities inherited from my ancestors, and my passion for helping people process, heal and recover from personal and intergenerational trauma.  I am trained in Thai massage, sports and therapeutic massage, and have practiced alongside and trained with fellow Kai-mirimiri, romiromi and lomilomi (Indigenous Hawaiian) bodyworkers.

Like my other offerings, I aim to create a space of safety, presence and non-judgment, working at the pace that meets the client where they are at, so that they can safely integrate their bodywork and sustain its benefits.  I believe in regular treatments (once a fortnight or a month) for treating long-term issues, although a one off session can be powerful and transformative.  For the best results, the client is mutually involved in the process, through focusing on their breath and body sensation, relaxing their body and opening their mind to receive all the healing that is available to them.  Prayer is involved to enhance the recipient’s ability to access the healing powers of papatuanuku (mother earth), atua and tipuna (god/s and ancestors).
